Nolan Riley Ducey

Meet Nolan Riley Ducey!!

He was born on Sept. 27, 2007 at 7:54 p.m.

He weighed 8 lbs. 11.9 oz. and was 201/2 inches long.

Nolan entered the world a little more roughly than any of us had planned for. We had an emergency C-section because his heart rate dropped before they were getting ready to induce me. They rushed me to surgery and delivered Nolan quickly. I prayed the whole way to the OR and as soon as we got in there his heart rate picked up. PRAISE GOD!!!! He cried and scored great on his APGAR test and went to the regular nursery at first. Then in the middle of the night his resperatory rate went up and his pulse oxygyn level dropped so they had to put him in the NICU on oxygen. His blood work came back with indications of infection so they treated him with antibiotics for 7 days. We are now home and doing well. Crazy what kids will put you through!

He is totally grounded when he is older!

Baby Ducey #2

I had my first Ultrasound today and here is the first baby picture of the new little one. It was so cool to see IT moving around on the screen. It is crazy that all that is going on inside me and I can't feel it at all. It really made me feel pregnant for the first time. Pregnant in a good way that is! It turns out I am a week ahead of what I thought I was. According to the picture and size of the little squirt I am 11 weeks along and the official due date is October 9th, 2007.

Holy Power Outage!!!

A big ice and Thunder Snow hit us on Saturday and over 100,000 homes in the QC area were without power by the end of the storm. We just happened to be one of the lucky 100,000 homes. We have been without power now since 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. It is now Tuesday, 72 hours later and we are patiently still living out of bags at Mike's mom and dads house. Thank the Lord that Mike's family has been so nice to take us in (like they had a choice or something). We are so blessed for the warm house and home cooked MOM meals!! Mike's dad and Uncle's have had 2 generators over at our house hooked up to our furnaces to keep our pipes from freezing. I went home the other day to get clothes and the thermostat was at 40 degrees. BRRRR!!!! Here are some pics of Collin and Mike during the few hours we tried to tough it out at first.
It looks light in the house but it was actually very dark. I have a great flash! Here is Collin with Dad's Ipod watching Arthur. Thank Goodness for new age devices. I never realized how much we watched TV!!!

Week 6 of Pregnancy!

Here's how the little booger is growing this week. It is really amazing how all of this happens!!! Well I slowly am recovering from my flu bug that I had last week. Man talk about a crabby, horomonal pregnant woman! That was SO me last week. Bless my husband for putting up with my emotional spurts of crying and don't forget the crabbiness of feeling pukey 24/7. I can't wait for these next 5-6 weeks to just pass. I keep saying my moms famous quote: "This too shall pass." Unfortunately it is not passing quick enough MOM!!! It is all worth it in the end though. :)

GOD IS SO AWESOME!!

How your baby's growing: The cells that will make up all of your baby's body parts and systems are dividing furiously as her body begins to take shape. Right now she's about the size of a small lentil bean (4 to 5 millimeters across). If you could see through your uterine wall, you'd find an overlarge head and dark spots where her eyes and nostrils are beginning to take shape. Shallow pits on the sides of her head mark her developing ears, and her arms and legs appear as protruding buds. Her hands and feet look like paddles, with thick webbing between the developing digits, but her fingers and toes will soon become more distinct. Below the opening that will later be your baby's mouth, there are small folds where her neck and lower jaw will eventually develop. (Inside, her tongue and vocal cords are just beginning to form.)Your baby's heart (which is starting to divide into the right and left chambers) is beating about 100 to 130 beats per minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to circulate through her body. Her intestines are developing and tiny breathing passages are beginning to appear where her lungs will be. She's also starting to build muscle fibers and, halfway through this week, she'll likely start moving her tiny limbs. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to wait until you're several weeks into your second trimester before you get to enjoy feeling your baby's calisthenics.

Well if you haven't heard yet from my mother, We're PREGNANT!!! Wait a minute WE are not pregnant, I am!! That is so not the right way to announce this news. Mike and Collin are not the ones nauseous 24 hours a day, and they are certainly not the ones ready for bed by 5:00 every night. You know I wish "WE" could be pregnant though sometimes, so I could share these symptoms of pregnancy that I have slowly forgotten about over the past 2 years. I am just an emotional basket casel these days, if you can imagine that from ME!!! I started crying in bed the other night and Mike sympathetically asked "What is wrong?". I could say nothing about what was wrong with me but "I hate Hormomones!!!" I am sure that you ladies can all relate with me! Mike and Collin are being GREAT though! We are all very excited as you can tell we waited about a day to tell everyone. We are so not good with secrets. Katie Mac and I were on the internet searching and playing with all the Chinese Birth charts and all but one say we're having a boy. That means we are either having a boy or we are having twins and one is a boy and one is a girl! Ok I'll take the boy! :)) We'll definitely let you all know as soon as we find out! Again we can't keep secrets.

Well here is what our baby looks like right now!

Here's what the experts say:
How your baby's growing: Deep in your uterus your embryo is growing at a furious pace. At this point he's about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. He's now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm — that will later form his organs and tissues. The cells are forming for his major organs, including his kidneys and liver, and his neural tube is beginning to develop. This neural tube — from which your baby's brain, spinal cord, nerves, and backbone will sprout — develops in the top layer, called the ectoderm. This layer will also give rise to his skin, hair, nails, mammary and sweat glands, and tooth enamel. His heart and circulatory system begin to form in the middle layer, or mesoderm. (This week, in fact, his tiny heart begins to divide into chambers and beat and pump blood.) The mesoderm will also form your baby's muscles, cartilage, bone, and subcutaneous (under skin) tissue. The third layer, or endoderm, will house his lungs, intestines, and rudimentary urinary system, as well as his thyroid, liver, and pancreas. In the meantime, the primitive placenta and umbilical cord, which deliver nourishment and oxygen to your baby, are already on the job.

Here is Collin in his snow gear! He was all bundled up and ready to go. It took him a while to learn how to walk stiff legged but as you can see he managed!

He discovered that eating snow tastes just like ice cubes which is one of his favorite foods!! I could save some money and just send him outside for dinner! :)

Well it was a big day at the Ducey household this morning. Collin sat on the little potty and watched Elmo's Potty Time DVD in the living room. He wanted to sit on his potty for 30 minutes and finally went 3 drops! Yes I said 3!!! It is not much but it is definitely progress for us here.

I know it looks pretty scary! Mike and I had so much fun as Flashdancers we just had to go and hire some back up dancers! Mike's sister Chrissy and husband Ryan decided to have some fun with us for the next Halloween party. Pretty scary to see a 6'8" male in spandex and a wig! And yes if you are wondering that is a thong Mike is wearing. SCARY!!! :) I felt like I was back in college again dressing up and making our own fun in Lamoni!

Meet Petra! Petra and I met on our Missions trip in the Czech. She is an amazing and beautiful person and I have been so blessed to have her a part of my life. We keep in touch almost every day over email and have talked on the phone a few times. We are trying to help her get her visa so that she can come to the states to visit and possibly go to school.

I ask for everyone's prayers for Petra right now at this time in her and her family's life. Her and her 2 sisters and brother are not living together at this time with eachother or their parents. Petra is staying with one of the missionaries from Majak and her siblings are staying at a home right now until their parents can figure things out. Petra and her brother Pavel are both believers in Christ but her parents and 2 sisters are not yet. We are praying for them everyday that they might find Christ in their lives. Please remember them in your prayers. :)
